Leotheras The Blind - Serpentshrine Cavern

Leotheras The Blind is a boss in Serpentshrine Caverns. He is one of those special bosses that requires a specially geared player in order to kill him. There are caveats to this statements but the strategy described here is the standard. Most raid parties are working with this current strat when they are taking down this boss at level, meaning everyone in the raid is geared for T5 content.

Leotheras in a nutshell is this: He has three guys standing around him. They are equivalent to three trash mobs. They are engaged and pulled apart for tanking. You take them down one at a time and just as the third dies, Leo engages. He is picked up by a regular tank (we like to use a baer) and dragged just down the hill a bit. We have our shaman put up searing totems in the area that will help draw him when his aggro table clears. Leo alternates between human and demon forms about every 60 secons and has different abilities based during each phase. At 15%, he will split into two forms (demon and human) and you have to manage that til he's dead. Leo has an enrage timer of 10 minutes.

Human Form

His primary skill is whirlwind, where he will spin around the room causing direct damage (~3000) to players and leave a bleeding DoT (2500 per tick for 15 seconds). The healers need to be aware and heal people through the DoT. If you see Leo whirlwinding toward you, MOVE. You should watch his movement around the room and start moving before he gets to you. Don't walk backwards. Turn around and run. When he finishes whirlwind, he drops his aggro table and he must be reaquired by the tank. People need to stop dps until the tank has him and has moved him back to the tanking area, by the searing totems.

Affliction warlocks need to lay off of their DoT's because they will prevent the tank from being able to aquire him.

Demon Form

Ok warlock, get out that red gear and dust it off, cuz yer tankin' Leo! The tank build is listed below.

When Leo transitions into demon form, all dps must stop while the warlock tank aquires him. The lock tank's opening move will be a searing pain as it creates a large amount of threat and will instantly move him to the top of the threat meter. The warlock tank will keep casting searing pain throughout the fight.

It is helpful for an affliction warlock to be grouped with the tanking lock, with his imp on stay within range of where the tanking lock stands.

Leo also produces an AoE while in Demon Form that produces 150 fire damage around the person he's hitting with it. So, stay away from the warlock tank, who will be surrounded by a circle of fire. Leo will also be casting a debuff on the warlock tank which lasts for 45 seconds and increases fire damage taken by 1675. This debuff can stack up to 20 times and hits everyone in the AoE. Thus, it's really important that Leo is picked up as quickly as possible by the tank warlock. The tanking warlock's felhunter should be on stay far enough away that it won't get the damage from the AoE.

About 25 seconds into Demon Form, Leo summons Inner Demons on up to 5 party members. If you have an Inner Demon, you must stop everything else and kill it before Leo returns to human form. Only you can kill your inner demon and if you don't in time, you will be mind controlled for 10 minutes. At that point, the raid will turn around and kill you. That's right. Those people who you thought were your friends and gonna turn on you and strike you down. And some of them will take pleasure in it and laugh about it later. So, save yourself the humiliation and just kill your inner demon.

Here's the bad news for shadow and fire casters. The inner demons have a buff/debuff called Demonic Alignment, where the shadow and fire damage they take is reduced by 20%. This means that it's hard for affliction locks to kill their inner demon. My best suggestion is to fear it first, then DoT and shadowbolt it. The good news for other casters is that the same buff/debuff increases Nature, Arcane and Holy Damage by 65%. The holy priests, for once, will have more effective dps than the warlocks.

15% Mark
Leo will split into a human and a demon form. The warlock tank needs to aggro the demon form, with no other dps on this form at all. Once the warlock has the demon form aquired, he will need to change his target to the human form. All dps should be on the human form for the final burn down. Leo will still whirlwind during this phase, but there will not be any more Inner Demons.
Warlock Tank Build
The warlock tank build is basically a fire resistance set of armor and this talent spec:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?0000000000000000000002050030133250100531330055000502030010000000

The armor set should include: Infernoweave Boots, Infernoweave Gloves, Infernoweave Robe, Infernoweave Leggings (all badge rewards), Phoenix-fire Band (quest reward from Trial of the Naaru: Magtheridon), Amulet of the Torn-heart (quest reward from The Cipher of Damnation). Enchants to be considered include Enchant Gloves - Fire Power (difficult to find as it was dropped in AQ), however, I would generally just recommend the usual enchants for a warlock.

Lock Loot - T5 Gloves of the Corruptor (Gloves of the Vanquished Hero) and Fang of the Leviathan
